Not an otter
After a busy week of meetings and paperwork I began to catch up on non- church business and to get out and about. The sun was shining and for the first time this year the shorts came out: indeed for the whole day and we’re still in January.
Late in the afternoon I heard that an otter had been seen in Blackford Pond. For those who don’t know, it is about a mile from where we live, is surrounded to the north, east and west by residential areas. To the south is Blackford hill and only beyond that is there a burn.
I’m not aware of any fish in the pond. There are ducks and swans and it seems early for eggs to be laid but something must have attracted it there.
In any event by the time I got there the otter had stopped swimming around and had gone to ground. I did see a video of it playing in the water though.
Perhaps another day. So not an otter for a photo but the swans were paddling gracefully so this photo will have to do instead.
