Three-storied pagoda. Narita.

A long day spent travelling by minibus from Matsumoto to Tokyo and Narita. Just managed a couple of hours sunshine in Narita and a high speed photo-shoot before sundown.
The Nantasan Shinshoji Temple area, on the hill where this pagoda stands, dates back over one thousand years, and includes a great pagoda of peace dedicated to the teachings of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism.
This smaller pagoda, beautifully and ornately decorated, is 25 metres tall and is said to convey the spirit of old Edo to the modern era. It is dedicated to the deity Gochi- I think it is the gem of the entire temple area.
