Today's the day ........................ to connect

What a truly wonderful and inspiring day it has been - and this was the culmination of it all.  A Celtic Connection performance by the Korean-born celloist extraordinaire, Su-a Lee and friends - all of them world-renowned musicians in their own particular area of expertise.

When Su-a Lee produced her CD 'Dialogues' in collaboration with these musicians at the end of last year, it was never with the hope that it would be possible for it to be re-created as a live performance.  After all, It involved getting together fourteen world-class, famous and busy musicians, all with their own schedules and tours.  But, somehow, with the magic that is Celtic Connections, it did happen - for a one-off, totally breath-taking and awe-inspiring performance.  It was a privilege to be there.

And, before that, we had a visit in the morning to the Glasgow Necropolis - somewhere I had always wanted to go.  A completely over-the-top cemetry (see extra), described as a 'unique representation of Victorian Glasgow, built when Glasgow was the second city of the empire.  It is a memorial to the merchant patriarchs of the City, containing the remains of almost every eminent Glaswegian of its day'.

The afternoon was spent at The Burrell Collection' - a free museum housing the eclectic collection, acquired over many years by Sir William Burrell, a wealthy Glasgow shipping magnate and art collector, and his wife Constance, Lady Burrell, who then gave it to the city of Glasgow Corporation in 1944.  It re-opened to the public in 2023 after a major renovation, and is one of the best museums I have ever visited.

What a truly wonderful and inspiring day .....................!
