Not the journey I expected

I went to bed early and fell asleep. I work up at midnight when a text message beeped it's way into my phone. It was a text from DFDS Seaways saying that the ferry from Esbjerg to Harwich had been cancelled.

What?????!!!!! Ohhh nooooo!!!!!

So in the middle of the night, I suddenly had to find and book another ferry to the UK. I booked Stena Line from Hoek van Holland to Harwich, departure from Holland at 9.30 pm.

So instead of leaving at noon and drive 2 hours to Esbjerg in Denmark, I had to get up at 4.30, go to work to print my new ticket, then drive 11 hours through Europe to Holland.

I slept about 2 hours that night.

I am on the ferry now (but no internet, so it will be a back blip) feeling exhausted! It has been the longest day ever!

The boys have been so good. We stopped 4 times on the way to Holland and the boys came out to stretch their legs and do whatever they needed to do.

We arrived in Hoek van Holland a little past 4 pm and the boys came for a fabulous run on the most amazing beach. They had dinner in the car and then another walk. Now they are sleeping in their crates in the car.
Unfortunately they are not allowed out of the car on the ferry. I think they are quite ok in the car though - it is like a 2nd home to them.

Bedtime soon... tomorrow we should have British land under our feet.

This is Biscuit on the beach in Hoek van Holland.
