Timber Before Timber

On top of the excitement of sledging runs and some snow later on, Keibr suggested we cut down one of two dead trees (as shown in the extra, with K for scale).

Electric chainsaw at the ready, he cut out the wedge on the preferred side without problems. He was worried the tree was leaning to the wrong side, but he made the second cut. Suddenly the tree twitched and leaned slightly to that wrong side and trapped his saw. Bugger is often an appropriate word for situations like these.

After some messing around with a crowbar and sledge hammer, he finally used himself and pushed the tree over in the right direction.

The photo is from the stump end. So more cuts to log it, and me with an axe removing the branches. To be continued as it was going dark.
