Happy Places

After Oscars walk I went to the garden centre to buy potatoes and raspberry canes. I managed to restrain myself re the potatoes - I bought Charlotte and Desiree - that should cover all my potato needs! I only meant to buy new potatoes but seeing the tables laid out with so many varieties and remembering the joy of digging them up, I went for Desiree which always gives a good yield! I bought summer producing raspberries to replace the autumn ones which always got mildew! A rhubarb plant may have fallen into my trolley along with a striking dark Hollyhock!
I am so excited about starting afresh on my plot - a complete blank canvas as can be seen in extra! I plan to lay down some black weed control membrane for the paths - I've had it for ages but never got round to using it! Once home I sorted out my seeds - many were past their use by date but I have most of what I need as I bought them last year prior to breaking my leg! Maybe this year I will get them started in time - the first will be Artichokes, Aubergines and Red Peppers. I will direct sow peas and Broadbeans. Just thinking about it gives me SDH!
I noticed some snowdrops selling for nearly £4 - good job I'd dug some out of my neighbours front garden and saved myself a lot of money! The house is still empty so the owner won't know!
