MonoMonday: Thick

A strainer post has to be pretty thick. They are found at the beginning and end of a fence and at intervals where it changes direction. 
It supports a lot of tension and has to be at least 1/3 of its length below ground.
Farmers used to cut their own from high quality hardwood but I expect these days you need to buy a metal or concrete one.
The one in the foreground here has outlasted its fence.
