Death throes

A busy day today. Didn't get home until well after dark.

I filled the firewood bin when I got home - bringing it all in in the dark. About 10 minutes later a pair of wasps rose from the wood (probably once they'd thawed out - its only 3 deg C out there).

I don't like wasps so out came the spray can. This one did some great twists and whirls as it died - I did put it out of its misery once I'd taken its photo.

Look at that mouth! No wonder they hurt when they bite!
