Flower Power
The Weka (Gallirallus australis) is a flightless bird of the rail family. It is native to New Zealand. They're sturdy brown birds, about the size of a large chicken. As omnivores, they feed mainly on invertebrates and fruit.
This weka seemed to know it was appropriate to pose with flowers. She kept moving away from these daisies and then moving back to stand beside them again. Definitely a poser.
I had to be home by 4.30 to receive a delivery. I got home a bit earlier than that which was good as the goodies arrived early too. Afterwards I thought I'd pop out to get a decent vantage point for when the sun started to drop behind the hills. Found this weka instead so didn't bother sticking around for sunset.
