Crossing Paths
Still working on my homework, although maybe the topless cyclist is dressed unseasonably compared with the pedestrians...
I also went to the library to do some skimreading and find artists who paint flat-looking landscapes. Didn't really find what I was looking for, but became at least visually familiar with the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose art I don't love but seems like it'd reward further reading to understand its meaning. Sadly he died when he was just 27, but he really did apply himself to expressing his perceptions while he was alive.
Watched Spike Lee's "25th Hour", which was an engaging and poignant, very American, specifically New Yorker thriller. The score by Terence Blanchard was excellent, with parts combining Northumbrian and Uilleann bagpipes with mournful Arabic vocals by the Algerian Raï singer Cheb Mami.
