Zunga…!!!

I walked past a rope swing with a seat on it today (it was not photogenic enough to be blipwothy), and it triggered me.

I was born and raised in a small, isolated, mill town called Powell River (pop. 12 000) just over 100 km. (yet a thousand miles away, it seemed) from Vancouver.
Every person in town knew that a rope swing, especially hanging over water was called a ZUNGA! We assumed that this was true everywhere, like bridge is called a bridge everywhere. To all of us Powell Riverites, it comes as a bit of a shock that people from anywhere but PR don’t know what a zunga is.

The local PR craft brewery’s Belgian brewmaster chose to honour this ‘localism’ by creating a tasty brew with an informative label.

Now you all know. Impress your friends next time you play Pictionary.
