Portuguese Bureacracy
Looks rural, doesn't it?
Actually a strip of ground between all the buildings on the industrial estate where the Ministry of Transport (or, in our case, of NON-transport) is located and where we spent several hours today. End of a long and extremely frustrating story is that, after paying another large fee, we now have to wait for an email, which might take a month or more, couldn't say, which will give us a date, which might be anytime after that, to take the car to Évora for an inspection - for them to see that the car is grey, not green, at which point they will begin the process of giving us another car document. Absolutely unbelievable.
Tempted to rail against the inability of officials here to make decisions, take authority, fix mistakes, etc - but look how the UK is treating several Europeans, kicking out folks who have lived there legally for years, here and here.
Gratefuls:
- Dan and Mireille giving us a lift and waiting for hours for us, after Ermelinda was crashed into in the car she was going to lend us (she's OK bar a sore arm and a wrecked car, and the shock)
- a friend in England cheering us up no end
- a bit of sun, our electricity was getting very low
