This is a protest

I went shopping in Besitas on Saturday, and found this art installation. Empty shoes stand for people killed in the protests, but there were "only" four of them and maybe twenty pairs of shoes. Not for the injured, surely, because that number is closer to 4,000.

I liked very much the sand shoes with basil plants in them, out of frame, just because of the hope of the image. There is much I don't understand here, but I liked the energy of the artist, the people talking to the artist, the sort of day to day courage that it takes to make such things, and maybe even to photograph them.
