Celebrating in Salisbury
Today, we joined one of my old Uni friends, M, in celebrating her birthday with lunch at the White Hart hotel in Salisbury. (M is five days younger than me!). We were a party of 22 in total, and it was a very happy, relaxed, occasion.
Afterwards, Martin and I went for a little wander around the cathedral close. The cathedral was looking particularly stunning as it has recently become scaffolding-free, for the first time in 38 years! The extra shows the west front bathed in the late afternoon sun. The main body of the cathedral was built in early English Gothic style in just 38 years from 1220 to 1258. Its spire which is the tallest in Britain, was added in 1320.
