The Opportunist

A splat of the tail alerted me to the muskrat's presence as he rapidly went under water. Perhaps startled by my sudden appearance, I'm not sure.

Around the edge of the inlet, pools of water have opened up allowing the beast to come up for air and some sunshine. I managed to locate him as he made his way along the opposite bank and tracked him until he disappeared again into the reeds.

There is plenty of vegetation about for a food source, even it is freeze dried.
