Perplexity
We were defeated by the notorious microclimates in the bay area. We walked out our front door in sunshine but having driven to Sebastopol to revisit one of our favorite parks we were in chilly fog. Sebastopol is ten miles west of us and much more affected by coastal influences. When we were staying there we felt the cold wind from the ocean blowing right up our driveway. These two little kids were playing on a lawn with their dad when Spike and John walked by. The little guy was really interested in Spike but declined to pat him. A conversation ensued about the fact that he was blind and in true toddler form both wanted to know, "Why?"
That was a more complicated conversation since they both seemed quite distressed about it. There comes a time when such conversations are no longer helpful so I pointed out that he could smell really well and he could hear really well and look, his tail is wagging! Then we took our leave....
Alas, by the time we walked down the hill to the path that circles the marsh we remembered that the whole thing turns into a mudhole after a lot of rain. Previous experience taught us that we couldn't even get through it easily in wellies and today we had only tennis shoes. We turned around and found another path which soon took us back to our car.
Another fallen tree in extras .
We drove back across the flooded Laguna and stopped to watch some kayaks putting in right off the road. There is no boat ramp so it was interesting to watch the different approaches to getting the kayaks into the water and the passengers into the kayaks.
We've been watching the Super Bowl, better known to us as the commercial bowl. So many in fact that it is difficult to follow the thread of the two minute bits of play squeezed between commercials. I can't decide whether to root for the hometown 49ers or Taylor Swift. Now we're settling in for the half-time extravaganza.
