I've cycled or walked past this local signal box hundreds of times and never seen it open until today. Beginning in 1874, it guarded the road crossing until 1982, when the line was removed, after which the Box became a Grade II Listed building.
This large metal wheel was turned to open and close the road barriers.
Extra: Wanting to be in mono monday, this herring gull tried to convince me it was just a tern.
