I love Fridays

I love Fridays. There are fewer people working on Fridays. I can concentrate on Fridays. And having everything ready to order the prints, and having figured out how to make the difficult thing at work easier, I was pretty chill today. 

The city has a diversity office that wants to arrange a tour of the photo exhibit. It was lovely talking to the head of the office today. 

Today I finally ordered the pictures. Today. Finally. I should have them at the church Wednesday. 

As you know, Russia invaded Ukraine to get rid of the Nazis. And when they didn’t invade Ukraine to get rid of the Nazis, they invaded because of gay people. “In a 2023 survey by Nash Mir, more than two-thirds of respondents said they feel positive about the participation of LGBTQ+ people in defending Ukraine from Russian aggression, with all metrics of attitudes towards queer people in Ukraine improving. This is being put down to the increasing prominence of LGBTQ+ soldiers in the fight against Russia.” The social change is so rapid that the sociologists doing the research could not believe it. 


Part of it is the visibility the soldiers have gotten and part of it is a reaction against Putin. Ukrainian MP Andrii Kozhemiakin is a conservative, anti-gay ex-spy and he supported legislation to recognize same-sex unions flat out saying that anything their enemies hate they support, this was a way to signal they were joining Europe and of giving the middle finger to Putin. 


NATO and Ukraine are opening a joint training center in Poland. Ukraine has a lot to teach the west about warfare now. 


A Latvia-led group of about 10 countries plans to send Ukraine one million drones in the coming year.
