Careening Hard!
Large Spring tides at the moment..doesn't mean it's Spring, it is the term for "big" tides caused when the sun and moon are in line..they then have the greatest effect on the sea.
A tricky concept to explain so see this TIDES explanation if you are interested!
The careening hard is an area where, because Guernsey has big tides, big sailing ships could be grounded at high tide. When the tide went down people could then clean and service the hull which was of course exposed until the next high tide. Make sure any corks are stuck back in..quick!! Much simpler and cheaper than a crane, boatlift or dry dock.

Boats still careen in this area which now has quite a nice restaurant overlooking...the diners will be more than happy to point out any bits you have missed!
Lovely warm, calm weather, a bit murky at first but summery at last!
Hope you enjoyed similar!
