Stalybridge Swim

Russ fancied having a go at wild swimming so Laura and I took him to Cowbury this morning. It was grey and misty, but it was dry….hurrah. Laura had her wetsuit on as I can’t persuade her to try it without when it is cold. The water was 8° and felt fabulous. Last time we were here it had been two or three degrees colder. We swam at least three quarters of the reservoir.

I’d given Russ tips on getting in….go slowly, proper breathing techniques and to only swim a few strokes then get out and warm up. I also told him to swear as he got his shoulders under as that always helps lol. It took him a while but he did it. He was so pleased and wants to go again. He said he wished he had done more today, but he did all the right things and will do more next time. Laura and I are used to cold water, his first dip was in single figure degrees and he should be super pleased with what he did. He was grinning all the way back to the car. The pic is post swim :))
