Oven Bird
Along with the male Painted Bunting, who is apparently waiting for his mate to appear, we have been seeing this little beauty almost daily. This is an Oven Bird. (check the *extra for another photo) It's called 'uncommon in Winter' for our area here in NorthCentral Florida. They are usually found in shady woods, and aren't easy to spot. This little warbler doesn't visit feeders, preferring to walk along on the ground, hunting for insects and grubs.
Even with the nearly continuous rain we've been having the last few days, our bird watching for the 'Great Backyard Bird Count' has been going well. Today is the last day to observe.
