Doepfer (It's a GAS)

I do almost all of my musical writing and recording in a software package called Ableton, which is described as a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).

But as you may have seen on Blip from time to time, I do like to buy hardware synths. Indeed, I am a happy sufferer from what is referred to as Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS).

Some of these external synths can be controlled from the DAW using Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) - OK, enough acronyms! - but others can only be controlled with an electrical voltage or 'control voltage' (CV) (sorry).

However, this little Doepfer unit will convert MIDI to CV, which opens up some interesting possibilities.
