These boots are made for walkin’

And walking they did today, although it was more like sliding and squelching.
As you can see it was a very muddy walk.
A job for MrC tomorrow!

The main reason for the mud being worse than usual was because it rained all night.
However fortunately it was fine for our walk. The sun did try to shine but didn’t have any luck.

Just 8 of us today did the 6.1 miles from the bottom of Tong Lane ( near Leeds) up to Farnley Hall where we heard a woodpecker but didn’t see it.
Then down to Troydale where we had our picnic lunch sat on some benches in the bowling club.
That is where we saw the plaque dedicated to three men who were killed during the Second World War.

We then followed a disused railway line in Pudsey before following several snickets and alleyways to reach the Moravian settlement and school of Fulneck.
Among other famous people who went to the school was Sir Len Hutton who was born here.
I took a photo of the blue plaque which marks the house.

Instead of following the beck back ( it was flooded) we made our way back to the car down Roker Lane.
Then finished off we drinks at the Beulah Bistro.
Certainly a very enjoyable walk with good company even if rather muddy!
