Stripes of Light
We woke up this morning to bright sunlight - very welcome after the damp and murk of yesterday.
Unfortunately Jan seems to have caught our visitors' virus, and I'm feeling fairly tired a lot of the time so I have my sudspicians about my health too. Sunlight is always joyous in our part of the world and definitely raises the spirits...
We decided a short trip to town would help us enjoy the day. A little shopping, a visit to beacon hill, and finally two semlor from the petrol station, which is also a bakery! One of our purchases was wine, and this car park is exactly above the alcohol shop so it seemed the place to park. I loved the stripes of light coming in through the slot like windows and that turned out to be my blip.
The top of Beacon Hill is also very photogenic (as Jan's blip shows) but I felt a little tired of snowy views and landscapes, so the car park won the day!
The top of the hill was very lively. The local ski lifts were in action, the cafe at the top was open and lots of young people were skiing hither and thither, as well as folks like us just popping up to enjoy the view. The sea around town is still frozen and snow-covered, as you see in Jan's blip, but even the open sea is not so open with large areas covered in ice. That's pretty unusual in these days of a warmer climate but we are thankful for this years "traditional winter" which has mostly stayed cold.
On the way home we picked up the semlor for us and the sunflower seeds for the birds. They seem a voracious bunch just now - but the fun of seeing them makes it worth the cost of a few seeds and fat-balls.
