Stuck in the mud

An adventure all day today in Nyerere National Park; at least the areas we could access that were not suffering from flooding. Lots of wildlife seen including giraffes, elephants, impala and waterbuck.

The mud was hectic in places, but we only got badly stuck once. Whilst we inspected the situation, searched for the jack and collect stones for leverage, my Tanzanian colleagues broke into a rendition of This Is The Day The Lord Has Made.

This Land Rover shell is at an abandoned ranger post that was used by rhino monitoring and protection patrols, before rhinos were poached out (which is almost certain, and we are hoping to commission a scientific study to - depressingly - confirm this status in this area).
