Chasing The Lion
Over Glasgow way with Miss Flum, who has an inclination towards all things Lion Foundry so, on our way home, we called in at Peel Park in Kirkintilloch (the home of the foundry) to clock a couple of examples of their products This is part of the Kirkintilloch Foundry Challenge. See how many you can spot that have not so far been recorded!
My main photo is the fabulously decorated drinking fountain, the plaque reads: Presented to the Borough of Kirkintilloch by Ex-Bailie Hudson Elleraybank May 1905. (Bailie Hudson was one of the founding members of the Lion Foundry). As the town lies on the Antonine Wall, the figure is based on Faustina, daughter of Emperor Antoninus Pius, after whom the wall is named.
Extra photo of the bandstand close by, with Miss Flum acrobatically photographing a detail of the ceiling rose. (She took more interesting photos, I just the generic).
We are now hooked, so, if you see me peering at the base of a lamppost or a drain cover, remember that I'm not mad, just an exceptionally persistent Blipper.
