Driving past Lake Wanaka …..
….. ….. ….. on the way to Haast, on the South Island’s West Coast. The photo was taken through the car window as drove alongside the lake.
My friend picked Missy & me up from home after church, and drove us over the Haast Pass to Haast, where we’ll be staying in her friend’s cottage until Wednesday.
I’m used to the scenery of the lakes, where I live, but the New Zealand native forests really were spectacular today, once we were over the pass. Tall majestic gnarled trees, thick undergrowth, and many waterfalls. It was magnificent.
We’re staying in Haast township and have yet to see the sea, even though we’re at sea level now. Tomorrow!
Missy was so excited to get here and was racing around a very large grassed area, burning off some energy. She’d been very settled in the car but sure showed that she was pleased to be allowed out!
