Tragedy

With all our comings and goings I had totally neglected my two Amaryllis plants. Sitting on the floor in the utility room they had begun to grow leaves but, after our last sojourn south, I had not examined them closely.

Which is why I had not known that there were flower buds emerging until there was a fall from above which broke off a bud. I've put it in water but don't hold out much hope for a mature bloom.

Fortunately there is another bud so, properly maintained, I should have one to show you in due course. And, naturally, I must care for the other plant and cherish the bud on that, too.
