Walking with Flowers

Fun reading

Have moved over to Bristol for a while to sort out my mother's house. There will be some emotional ups and downs. At the moment I'm hoping the weather will improve as it's raining hard. Have been enjoying reading back copies of the BBC History magazine as Mum had a subscription. The June issue has an interesting piece about the protagonists in the 1485 Battle of Bosworth, Richard III and Henry Tudor. I've always tended to be pro-Richard since falling in with a group of enthusiastic Ricardians at university - I wonder if the recent discovery of 'his' bones in a Leicester car park will stand the test of time or prove to be a hoax? But Henry Tudor is also an interesting figure, an unlikely King with loose Welsh connections and an extremely tenuous claim to the throne. Yet through his marriage to Elizabeth of York, niece of Richard and daughter of Edward IV, he united the red and white roses and founded a dynasty that has profoundly shaped British history.
