Langstone Harbour
A much needed day away to recharge the batteries. There were no further glitches at the hotel - a very good, filling breakfast set us up for a long walk along Southsea Esplanade firstly towards Portsmouth where we we thwarted by extensive sea defence works and then towards Eastney on the western banks of Langstone Harbour where we could go no further.
We retraced our steps expecting to stop for coffee at the 10th Hole cafe which had been recommended to us. It was too popular with a line outside waiting to get a seat. We decided not to wait crossing the road to another cafe which was pleasant enough.
Our Lake District friends are walking in the Canaries and last night sent us photos of their walks . Tongue in check, I said we were tacking the steeply graded Solent Way - sending them the extra to prove it.
All too soon we had to set off for home, a journey which was mainly good except for the A3/M25 junction where extensive roadworks delayed us for about 30 minutes.
A very pleasant musical evening has rounded off a lovely day
