High and Wide
To the town centre this afternoon to sort a couple of things. This view is towards Warrington Bank Quay station, dwarfed by the Unilever works.
I purchased a copy of the Beano on my visit, as a niece’s daughter features in comic strip form on the back “make me a menace” page. I haven’t looked at the Beano for nearly 60 years, so fascinating to see how it has changed as society has changed - in “my day” all characters were white, and it was a boys comic. But also fascinating how many of the old characters are still here.
I’ve featured it in an extra with another purchase this week, also aimed at children - Michael Rosen’s “Sad Book”, with illustrations by Quentin Blake. I’m a fan of both of them.
