Raven

A coffee late afternoon at the Shakespeare North Playhouse.

I had a look at the education space on my way out. No one there, just this raven keeping a beady eye on things. As the corvids are the most intelligent of birds, maybe a raven is a good choice here.

Sculptor Brian Fell apparently uses “cold forging” to make his steel sculptures. This involves hammers, vices and clamps, lots of beating and bending. I think this image gives some impression of the process, as the light catches irregularities in the steel surface which I assume are created by hammer marks. It would be fascinating to watch the making process. Amazing that such a physical process creates a form that is so true to the bird.
