Slutch!

We were walking Bramble the dog and pushing Freya the granddaughter when a woman with another dog said "Keep out of that slutch" (to the dog).

I've always loved the feel of this word from my childhood days. Slutch is mud, identified as northern (England) dialect. There are other fancier definitions, but this is the one I prefer.

Ironically I don't like mud.
