The Final walk

It's the last day of the summer term in East Lothian schools and they are now out for the summer returning in August. But not for S!!!!! All being well, if she gets her grades in her exams, this'll be last day of her school career. I tried to get her to stand next to the school name plate to mirror the one I took when she commenced school. Dead easy to ask a 5 year old to do it but try asking a 17 year old - no way, hence the " I am not looking back at you" just in case Blipmama blips, so I did.

Mixed emotions, leaving familiar environment, leaving friends, hopefully moving on to pastures new and off to college - new environment, new friends = life's cycle starts again.
She came home with her school shirt written all over by fellow pupils and teaching staff, some were kind enough to use permanent markers so she now has multiple tattoos over her arms which need to be scrubbed off tonight before she heads away for her one week army cadet camp at Catterick.
Hmmm assault courses with a torn knee ligament - hmmm don't think this is a good idea somehow!

Doesnt time fly, it only seems like yesterday I dropped her off at the gates for Primary 1 :(

Michael Jackson's death today reminded me of Pheonix Rises. When we were at college we both headed to a little record store in Easter Road where we both bought the Thriller vinyl LP
On one Pheonix's birthdays, whilst she was in bed ready to go to sleep we heard her listening to the radio. I then phoned the radio station and spoke to the DJ and got a request for her to be played - aiming for it to be played before she fell asleep. I could hear her bury her head under the pillow with embarrassment when the DJ mentioned her name and age and then played her favourite Ben by Micahel Jackson :0
