Renovating The Crown.
SWMBO and I nipped over to Linlithgow to have a look at the 'Artisan Fair' where one of the old Craft Association had a stall.
There weren't many truly 'hand crafted' stalls ... lots of food and drink stalls and pyrography seems to have been taken over by laser technology.
SWMBO wasn't too impressed with the work the one woodturner had .......it was all very light with no 'substance' to it. Also it virtually all seemed to be painted (including his spinning tops which were terrible and hardly spun at all).
When we got back to the car I noticed that the 'Crown' on top of the church is under scaffolding for renovations.
I remember being taken by my father to see it being lowered into place in 1964.
When we got home I spent most of the afternoon preparing some blanks and turning a couple. You will be able to see the grain patterns when they are finished .... none of this covering them in paint or a finish so shiny that you can't see the grain and are left wondering if it is actually plastic.
