Statue of Jean Batten

Jean Batten made long solo flights in an aeroplane in the 1930s. She was the first person to fly solo from England to New Zealand. 

The Auckland International Airport is also known as Jean Batten Airport.

This evening we collected our grand-daughter off a flight from Sydney. Despite the disruption as a result of the builders starting next Monday, so we have to be elsewhere, we aim to make her stay a happy one.
