Rather a lazy day today. Neither of us slept well, so we got up rather late, and then I decided to have a day off from exercise, and instead stayed home and did some knitting, Duolingo, and read my book for Book Club in 10 days time. This is a great read about a Black classical musician aspiring to make it in this white-dominated field. When he makes the startling discovery that his great-grandfathers fiddle is actually a priceless Stradivarius, things seem to be looking up, but then with the International Tchaikovsky Competition fast approaching, his prized family heirloom violin is stolen…
It is a debut novel for the author, who was born in Yuma City, California and was raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He holds a degree in music education (with concentrations in violin and viola) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has been a public and private school music educator, and has performed with orchestras throughout northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC.
