Diary of an Edinburgher

Two ops today!

Another crazy night. Archie was running around, scrabbling and doing a 'wet dog' shake every ten minutes or so, which also means all four paws scraping the wooden floors and creating a big din. He just could not settle. Until, maybe 4am ish... the vets can't shed any light on this behaviour. But during the day he is a normal, relaxed, dozy dog,

However, he was at the vet at the appointed time this morning, JR having gone to the local gym for a quick session, and then walked him part way there. I took the car and caught up with him so that we were on time.

Well, he's had a scan, and unlike last week when the vet was telling me all his innards were too small and in the wrong place and being squashed, everything was looking fine. Last week could have been the way he was lying, and it was only an xray, which doesn't give enough detail.

So they went ahead with today's op, and I didn't get a phone call to say they'd had to call it off. No - all done successfully. Stitches on the inside, nothing to see. Though his Celtic football shirt is not good enough now - but it served its purpose. He may need to get a proper one. Lump results in a week.

I must say, the young lady who discussed all this with us was lovely and very sympathetic. She explained how she did everything - making two small cuts instead of one big hole, as the wound would have been too big. She kept saying what a good boy Archie was, letting them do all sorts of things to him, uncomplaining.

JR and Archie walked all the way home, though he and I walked the first bit to his bench for a photo op.

Fingers crossed for a peaceful night.
