Another from Saturdays walk with youngest & Shadow.

Here we have the remains of an old railway turntable on the Apethorne Link Line. For a year (1979!) I lived in a house that backed onto this line, and have memories of Class 40s slowly pulling coal wagons past our back garden, from the Yorkshire coalfields bound likely for Runcorn Power Station.

The line closed shortly after we moved out and more recently was converted to a cycle path. The Turntable and a few other bits of infrastructure remain.
