Oh I do like to be …
… beside the seaside. Today’s weather was a little brighter, and it was neither raining nor windy, so we decided to head for the coast. Normally this would default to Saltburn, but we decided to ring the changes and go to Staithes instead. I haven’t been there since that iconic blipmeet with Kendall and Sue (https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2053945695294983052) — in, goodness, 2015!
We spent maybe 10 minutes on the beach … it was colder than it looks here, and the tide was in so we couldn’t walk along the rocks even if we’d wanted to. Then we retreated to the Cod and Lobster, the only pub on the beach, for the inevitable fish and chips. Not as good as the Seaview in Saltburn, but absolutely fine and when at the seaside it has to be done!
There was little incentive to wander further after lunch, so we walked back up to the car park via an even more convoluted route than the one SpotsofTime and I took last time. More “It's grim up north” in extras. Extra 1 is on the way back up. Our archaeological minds could not help but notice that some of the steps had got so worn with the passage of many feet that they had been turned upside down to provide a new flat surface.
Back home we planned a rather exciting adventure, but it won’t happen for many months.
