Owl Mountain, with Monika and Andy
It was the perfect day for this walk, as the picture shows, and Andy and Monika were both interested in another snowshoe walk.
My first title for this picture was "Summit Ridge". However, the photo is a little more spectacular than the reality, though you wouldn't want to fall to the left on the picture, where a 20 m cliff awaits. The other side is a very gentle slope.
The view shows the ice-covered bay, then open sea, with Härnösand in the distance. Just to the right of the smoke is beacon hill with the town's ski slope. Directly above A & M's heads is the maximum security prison on the outskirts of town, one of three in Sweden.
There were a lot of contrails in the sky today, and later I read about a large NATO exercise involving Norway and Finland - perhaps an explanation.
In the extra you can see our visitors enjoying a picnic - mulled wine, ginger biscuits with blue cheese, and sweet whey cheese in a tube, to spread on slices of bread. A real mountain picnic!
Our visitors have been in Stockholm now for a couple of days, so this is a backblip. Today's and yesterday's blips, 8th and 9th March, are also in place.
