Underneath The Arches . . .

The Gardiner Expressway is the main - elevated - commuter road into Toronto. Bits of it keep dropping off and the whole thing's looking very fragile. Mayor Rob Ford is committed to slashing taxes, so there's no cash to fix it properly (by tearing the whole lot down), so the cracks get patched. One day, soon perhaps, a section will collapse - and we wonder who the the Mayor will blame? The lefties, of course - it's always their fault . . .

Jools took the picture as we drove down the Gardiner off-ramp,with one hand on the steering wheel, the other holding the camera; her body half-out the driver-side window, eyes sharp left . . . I was cowering in the passenger seat, anticipating a collision with the truck in front . . .
