A Guest For Dinner
It's not every day we get to entertain a real-life superstar in our humble abode, but that's what happened tonight when Roland Rat dropped in for dinner.
Jools was a bit concerned about the intricacies of rattish protocol: Should she should curtsy only when introduced to royalty and, if so, could a Rat ever be so considered, especially one who was born in a sewer under King's Cross railway station in London before becoming a famous personality on British TV, albeit it a generation ago (see clip here and visit one of his websites here).
"Well. Yes. He was my greatest childhood hero and inspiration, and he does deserve it", she exclaimed. So Roland got the best curtsy ever seen in Georgetown. In fact, he got two, in case one was insufficient.
But then there was an additional quandary for a by-then decidedly shaky Jools: "What the hell do you feed a stuffed Superstar?"
The answer came in a flash of inspiration: "Egg, toast, cup of tea and a cookie, all knitted to order". Just one thing: A prima donna like all rodent superstars, Roland refused to eat until Jools knitted baked beans and black pudding . . . and judging by the ribald language emanating from the sewing room/kitchen, I think she's run out of black wool.
Drat, now she's in big trouble. Me, I'm off out for a beer . . . See you guys later . . .
