A Green Birch Shieldbug and a New Macro Lens
I got a new macro lens yesterday and am seeking every opportunity to use it.
I was looking at some sawfly larvae as possible photo models when I spied this Green Birch Shieldbug. Being generally flatter and more sedentary than the fidgety sawflies, it became the subject of my practise session. Its taking me a bit of time to get use to the shallow depth of field, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I love the detail of those pores, or punctures, as they are known in the bug world.
