Mud and the Golden cap
Deer in the garden this morning before we got up.
Went for a circular walk to Seatown and then up Golden Cap and back via St Gabriel's Church. The trails we so muddy. Luckily we had boots and gaiters but it still over topped our boots at some points and was very slippery. There had been several cliff falls at Seatown and the sticky clay like deposits were heaped at the bottom of the cliff. We saw a mermaids purse on the beach and tried to get it back into the sea.
The view from the top was spectacular. We could see as far as Portland and Weymouth in one direction and past Lyme regis to Start Point in Devon in the other direction.
It was so warm and sunny we ditched our coats. Back at the house we had well earned sandwiches and coffee in the garden. I spotted a large bat out feeding. It was doing loops round one of the barns. We could see some of the insects it was chasing. As we finished lunch the grey clouds came in and it started raining. We retreated inside for a warm bath and to find somewhere to dry out our mud encrusted boots and gaiters.
We roasted a big heap of veg for a pasta sauce for tea. We'll try and watch the final of the pottery throw down with our son back at home via whats app if we can stay awake.
Lovely spring day and a great walk.
