Borrowdale

A t the end of a lovely walk in the valley I noticed this gat and the further one, one.  Should a gate be open or closed?  Nothing is that easy.  There were sheep in a field but they had the opportunity to walk between fields.  At least  the roadside gate was well and truly shut.
