Finals day in the pouring rain
Despite any indications you might have had, there was no way I was going to miss Ottawacker Jr’s semi final and potentially final for a mere top-of-the-table grudge match against Manchester City. So off we went.
The semi was reasonably straightforward – a good solid win against another OSU team (5-1) I think, so when it came to the final (against a team from Laval, just outside Montreal), there was an element of self-belief about the team. It was a much closer game than the 4-1 score might indicate, but Ottawacker Jr’s team was good value for the win – and, indeed, the cup.
He was, however, exhausted at the end of the tournament – probably more emotionally than anything else. He made a couple of mistakes at the end of the last group stage game yesterday and had to reset himself. He did – and was very good again today.
As for the Manchester City match – well, once again the standard of British officiating is worse than a U14 competition in Ottawa.
