More bees at work

This one is up at Christian Fields, the Nature Reserve just off Eastern Avenue on the north side of Lichfield. It's been thoroughly manicured, but the plants and the bunnies are regaining ground and it's not looking so neat.

This Nature Reserve has a very different feel. You do get dog walkers, but they tend to be solitary teenagers with odd crossbreeds, not the families and pensioners you find elsewhere. The car park is sometimes used, but not by people going anywhere. This time there was a woman and a young boy in a car - he was stuffing his face with sweets and she looked bored. There was no sign they were going for a walk. On weekdays, you get solitary men, taking time out but not venturing outside the vehicles.....

Christian Fields has a sinister history - it was reputed to be one of the battle sites, where hundreds of Christians were slain... maybe that's why it always feels a little strange.

News of the big poppy field : the poppies are definitely becoming more and more dominant and it's nearly all a sea of red, instead of shared with the yellow of the rapeseed. You can't get into the parking spot. There were four cars when I went down and as I called in on the way home, I was joined by two others....

Blippers, it is truly worth a trip.

Enjoy your weekend
