Wet and wetter
Raining all day again but we'd fixed to go and collect some well-rotted horse manure, gold dust for us gardeners. The owner explained that the heaps had become a little waterlogged...
One old horse overlooked our efforts with shovels and plastic bags. It wasn't all his product, there were several more horses out of sight.
After half an hour of working in the gold mine slithering in the poo we took the dog for a very wet walk around the boardwalk in a nearby nature reserve. Without the boardwalk it would be a no-go area, at least thigh deep in mire. I was interested to see these (extra) clumps of tussock sedge, a rare and ancient inhabitant of swampy places. The grass builds up above the waterline in towers, said to have inspired John Wyndham's triffids but to me they resembled the mop-tops made famous by The Beatles.
