Spring is really here!
After such a wonderful day yesterday it was good to wake up to what promised to be another day of sunshine and blue skies. Our local u3a Garden Group had arranged to visit the lovely garden at Achnacloich, on Loch Etive, just 20 minutes away, at 2.15pm. The leader however had suggested the night before that in view of the forecast we should meet in the morning instead. It seemed odd, but we complied and had a few hours in this beautiful garden. It looks out over the loch - a wonderful situation.
Just beside the house is an amazing Douglas Fir, Pseudotsuga menziesii. I was slightly unsure of its identity until I spotted many of the very distinctive cones on the ground. I'd never seen such a huge multi-stemmed Douglas Fir before, so I persuaded the other man in the group to climb into it for my Blip!
Quite a few gorgeous species rhododendrons in flower - see extra - and hundreds more to come. I must visit more often.
As it happened, after we'd left and gone home it clouded over and began to rain!
